VON Windsor-Essex is Recruiting Board Directors
VON Windsor-Essex is looking for volunteer Board & Committee members who are interested in enhancing the ability to provide accessible community support programs and home care services.
Experience in fundraising, public relations, advocacy, strategic planning, charity law or finance is an asset; the desire and commitment to make a difference is a must.
VON Canada is a national not-for-profit charitable organization addressing community health and social needs. The contribution of the VON Community Corporations are vital to the success of VON in the community and across Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the corporation by:
- Attending and participating in discussions and deliberations at scheduled Board meetings (monthly with the exception of summer months, or at the call of the Chair);
- Actively participating on at least one Board Committee (Strategic Planning, Fund Development & Community Relations, Finance or Board Development);
- Being informed of the services provided by VON and publicly support them;
- Attending annual AGM;
- Participating in the fundraising activities of the Board;
- Building relationships and partnerships within our community.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance:
- Fundraising;
- Public relations, communications and/or marketing;
- Finance;
- Experience with VON programs/services;
- Strategic Planning;
- Legal;
- Knowledge of healthcare system.
