Adult Day Program

The VON Adult Day Program benefits adults with Alzheimer Disease, dementia or cognitive impairment living in the community.The program provides social, therapeutic and recreational activities with a hot lunch, snacks and refreshments. The program benefits the caregivers with daytime respite and caregiver support ongoing as needed. Volunteers will help assist staff in delivering these services and provide clients the help they need in a very rewarding environment.

The SMART In-Home volunteer provides regular visits to potentially frail, homebound seniors, assisting with a gentle exercise program and helping to relieve client’s feeling of social isolation.

SMART Program volunteers must complete The Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging’s Home Support Exercise Program training session as provided by the SMART In-Home Program Coordinator.

Please contact for more information.

A SMART Group Volunteer Fitness Instructor will lead weekly fitness classes for older adults in the community.  Volunteers commit to teaching a minimum of one class per week for a one-year period.  The volunteer follows the Guidelines and Procedures outlined by VON’s Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together Program.  (Two volunteer Instructors per class)

Volunteers for this program must complete The Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging’s training session as provided by the SMART Program Coordinator.

VON Sarnia-Lambon provides volunteers at bingos each month, which provides us further revenue to operate our important community programs. The time commitment is a minimum of 2 hours for each session worked. Volunteer roles include keeping the hall tidy during the bingo session, collecting raffle cards, helping patrons and representing VON as the designated charity.  Bingos are held at Jackpot Bingo located at 825 Upper Canada Dr. Sarnia.

September 20
Memorial Garden

The VON Memorial Garden was a gift from the Marshall S. Huzevka Foundation as a way to remember those who have touched our community. It is a wonderful place to honour loved ones in this beautiful setting in Centennial Park.

By remembering those from our communities' past the wall raises desperately needed funds to support our friends and neighbours that VON helps today. These are some of the programs your donation will support:

  • Visiting Nurses
  • Personal Home Support
  • Volunteer Services
  • Foot Care Clinics
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Volunteer Visiting
  • Adult Day Program

If you:

  1. Designate VON through a planned gift in your will;
  2. List VON as the benefactor of an In Memoriam donation;
  3. Make a donation of $200 or more to VON Sarnia-Lambton in memory of a loved one.

The name of the person being remembered will be included on the wall and they will be honoured at our annual ceremony on September 20 each year.

Please help VON Sarnia-Lambton to continue its tradition of service in our community by remembering a loved one on the Memorial Garden Wall. You can include them in the year's celebration by:

  • Call 519-542-2310
  • Email
  • Visit the VON Sarnia-Lambtom Office at 1705 London Line

The deadline for Submissions is May 30.
