VON Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in Lakeshore (Belle River) is now accepting patients from Tecumseh

 

June 17, 2014 (Lakeshore, ON) – VON Windsor-Essex is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Health and Long- Term Care (MOHLTC) has approved expanding the boundaries of the VON Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in Lakeshore (Belle River) so patients from Tecumseh can now be accepted.

If you do not have a primary health care provider you can stop by the clinic or call 519-728-9116 for more information on how our team can meet your health care needs.”

Patients of the clinic, located at 330 Notre Dame St. - Suite 200 in Belle River, benefit from its interdisciplinary team of 3 nurse practitioners, a registered nurse, a registered dietician, a registered social worker, a consulting physician and pharmacists. Health care services include management of urgent and chronic health conditions, wellness exams, prenatal and postnatal care, reproductive care, child and adult immunizations, medication review, counseling and referrals to specialists and community programs. To serve the community better, the VON Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic has extended hours on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm and is open 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on Wednesday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Thursday and 8:30 am – 4:30 pm on Friday.

The VON Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in Lakeshore (Belle River) was the first to open of three funded by the MOHLTC in 2009 and has provided primary health care services to over 2000 people since 2010. By Spring 2014, 25 NP-Led Clinics have opened across the province. Nurse practitioners are Registered Nurses with advanced education and expertise and are regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario. They have an expanded scope of practice which includes making diagnoses, ordering certain diagnostic tests (e.g. lab tests, x-rays and ultrasound) and prescribing specific medications, while providing quality health care.
